Does exercises really makes us happier?

Research from the University of Vermont has found out that just 20 minutes of exercise is enough to boost your mood for up to 12 hours.


Have you heard about 'endorphins'? It is a chemical that your body releases when you exercises. The exercise does not necessarily be very intense. According to the research from Harvard Medical School, almost any type of exercise will help. No matter if it is simply a walk or a set of stretching exercises, they will keep you healthy and help relax your mind.


Exercise recommendations

Here are some recommendations of exercises that you can do at home, especially during COVID-19.


1. Yoga

Yoga is a mind and body practice. It combines a various of physical postures, breathing techniques, meditations and relaxations. By practicing yoga, you can have benefits on your mental health, it reduces depression and anxiety and increases your satisfaction with life and your self-esteem.

2. Pilates

Pilates is a system of repetitive exercises performed on a mat or other equipment to promote strength, stability, and flexibility. 'Pilates joins the body with the mind, it requires good concentration of your body and breath with a deep focus needed for advanced level Pilates all of which can help to boost your mental health,' Jill Simpson, founder of yoga, Pilates, ballet and barre studio Ebb&Flow says.

3. Cleaning your home

Cleaning and tidying your home can also release endorphins! Most household chores burn calories using some of the same physical movements that you do in the gym. So if you do not have time for exercise or not able to find a suitable exercise to do at home, try house cleaning!


(tip: try to play your favorite songs or music during cleaning, it can boost your happiness even more!)
